The Logeo

Le Logeo, natural port of the Gulf of Morbihan

The port of Logeo, nestled in the town of Sarzeau, is one of the most beautiful natural coves in the Gulf of Morbihan Regional Natural Park. Historically, this port played an essential role in the trade of the Rhuys peninsula.

The port of Logeo

Before the French Revolution of 1789, the Rhuys barges unloaded their goods there, sheltered from the west winds in the bay. These cargoes mainly included wine, local brandy called "fine de Rhuys" (produced from the vines of the peninsula), wood and salt. At that time, the customs post, where five customs officers worked, was located in the building which today houses the "Le Petit Port" café.

The New slipway of the Port du Logeo

In 1896, the current large slipway was built, accessible by a path. It then hosted the steamer “Ville de Vannes”. Since then, the port of Logeo has developed to become an important oyster farming center. The anchorage area has expanded considerably, from around thirty places to around 180 in the port and more than 200 in deep water.

Despite these changes, this small port remains a haven of peace offering a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Morbihan.
